Van Gogh Museum if you like the s**t he turned out, Rijksmuseum, give the maritime museum a miss, beers = somewhere like Café Stevens on the Nieuwmarktplein for the real local Amsterdam scene or if you must go to an Irish pub, make it O'Reilly's near the Dam or the Tara on the Rokin.

Food - Japanese restaurant on the Nieuwezijdsvoorburgval or anywhere on the Zeedijk off the Nieuwmarktplein. Shopping - Rokin.

Spose you have to do the red light district but don't bother with bars and stuff there unless you want to mix with gazillions of tourists who are off their heads.

Nightlife - if I were you I'd prefer the lounge bars around the Jordaan - Prinsengracht, Herengracht, etc than the nightclubs.

Oh, and I spose you should do the Anne Frank Huis. Normally 3 million Japanese outside but the queue moves remarkably quickly. Read the original parts of her diary. Right old dirty cow she was turning into I reckon.
