Anelka had a good chance from a header in the first half- but missed.
England never looked like scoring a goal. Can't recall a shot on target either, but happy to be corrected there.
Dominating possession is all well and good, but how much of it was in our half? Plenty of it. How much of it was attacking possession. Very little.
How many times did Rooney pass the ball to Beckham who passed it to Gerrard, and back to Rooney who passed it back to Beckham who looked up to cross it and saw no-one in the box? Loads. Then Beckham passed it to Brown on the overlap, and suddenly after 30 seconds of possession, a couple of the midfielders realise they're meant to be in the box.
Brown crosses the ball at head height and it's cleared by the left back who gets up off his sofa, puts his cigar on the ash tray to head it away.
Five minutes later the same scene is replayed on the left side as Ashley "50p shaped foot" Cole saves the right back the trouble of getting of his chez-long and spoons a cross over the bar after another two minutes of possession.
Possession's fine, but at the end of the day Brian, its goals that count. And England were miles away from a goal this evening.
