We rarely had anyone in the box, with the best crosser in the team on the right. The midfield looked to be, for the most part, all strung along in a line across the pitch, getting in the each others way.

Yes, we did keep the ball, but to what purpose? Shots from 25 yards away, crosses to Gerrard, a player who is best driving from midfield into attacking positions, with our best player Rooney looking increasingly pissed off, playing to orders leading the line.

Blame the players, tactics, manager, or the fact that it was the wrong time of the season if you want.

It was shockingly bad.
