What the BBC used to do

Ambitious, intelligent program making that had fundamental affects on society.

Was going to post some sarcastic link to some truly awful beeb program, but to be fair it is getting better again.
Will we ever see something on this scale again? Never had one of these myself, though i do remeber programming my brothers Amstrad on numerous occasions, going through pages of code from mags such as Amstrad Action!
