Back from the game - some thoughts...

Overall I felt we didn't played too bad today but yet again we have failed to score a goal. That is our biggest problem right now - we have scored 2 goals in 5 games and one of them was a penalty.

Worryingly we also seem to have gone back to our old bad habits of not being able to demonstrate the basic art of defending. The 2 goals today were a disgrace. The first was a complete cock up by Shackell. The guy isn't up to the job quite simply. Everyone bangs on about Doherty but he is the best CB we have at the Club hands down. He should have started today alongside Pearce, not being brought on at 2-0 down. For the second goal it was obvious we needed men on the posts but were they there???

As I said, thought generally we played ok but Pattison and Gibbs really should have got their shots on target at least and Ched should have done better with his chance. Saying that I thought Gibbs had his best game for us today and he actually looked like a player who had been brought up the Arsenal way. But it seems he is the new scapegoat so I doubt many will agree with this.

If we can cut out the errors at the back and actually start hitting the target then obviosuly we will be ok. But right now that is a big if.

Colchester is Massive now.
