UEFA had no choice

It was either expand the Champions League and provide an insurance for 3rd placed clubs - or suffer a breakaway, in which the big clubs would've been subject to no regulation at all! Arguing that "UEFA have devalued it" is just like arguing that the FA have devalued the FA Cup, before fulfilling the prophecy by picking a weakened team. FFS - football is about winning things, not just the boring bread and butter of the league!
