I don't agree with that at all -

Steve Harmison is centrally contracted to the ECB. It is his choice to stay or go on tour, but if he doesn’t go he won’t get paid, probably will forfeit whatever his sponsors are paying, vastly reduce his chances of playing for England again and getting another central contract.

Two England players who have pulled out of tours in recent years for personal reasons, Graham Thorpe and Marcus Trescothick didn’t re-establish themselves back into the team.

One other thing to bear in mind is that fast bowlers have a much shorter career than batsman, he is thirty years old in October and probably hasn’t got more than a couple seasons before he is past his physical peak.

They guy needs to earn his money now, but also wants his family around him. A tough choice.
