Works on two levels:

2 points for a correct prediciton, LESS predicted v actual points.

In your case, you has 8 points before last nights game (comprising of Preston, Cardiff, Hull and Barnsley), and you had predicted we would have 45 points (meaning a deduction of 0)

However, you predicted a win last night, so no points for that, and you predicted we would have 48 points at this stage, when we only have 46, hence the deduction of 2...

Simple...
