Just back from the game

Took both my girls today, they had a good day out despite the football.

A few thoughts on today

All a bit pants really. Looked like the players were still, mentally at least, on holibobs in the sunny spain. Blackpool were everything we were not, sharp, incisive, first to the ball, passed it around well, had decent movement in attack - reminded me of the game when we lost to Bristol City.

Centre midfield was where it all went wrong. Two workers and grafters is what we needed today, and instead we got the Fozzy that didn’t turn up and Gibbs who I wish hadn’t turned up. Out wide Crofty had a shocker and on the other side in defence Ryan Bertrand had the worst game I’ve seen from him so far.

I lost count of the number of times Blackpool just walked it through our midfield, in biblical terms it was like Moses walking though the red sea as it parted for the Israelites to move on to the promised land.

Hucks’ shout for a pen when it was 0-1 was nailed on , their defender appeared to take him out from behind, but if that’s all the only hope I could cling to from our first half performance, we didn’t deserve anything.

I’d have given Pattison the MoM champers because his attitude and application gave us some momentum and some hope of salvaging a point.

If we play anything like that at Watford we are going to get hammered.
