I *really* don't want to spread rumours, but had heard them described as gunshots on the Beeb. Seems they were near Dalgarno Gardens -- closer to my ex's flat that mine -- which may or may not now be a siege. Other activity is in Basing Street which, fact fans, is home of the studio where they recorded the original 'Live Aid' single. And Bob Marley recorded pretty much all of his stuff post-Kingston.
