Having a blog from a gap year student is a s**tty idea anyway. NOBODY CARES. And this particular blog is a particularly s**tty idea because he can't write. When you then find that the blog has only been commissioned because Max's dad has pulled some strings, the whole thing sucks.

If they ran a competition for 19 year olds going on a gap year to see whcih one of them blogged best, and had it independently judged, and then hired, all is well. Still nobody would read it, I suspect, but all would be well in terms of fairness.

The last student writer who was actually any good was Willy Hamilton-Dalrymple, who may have a silver spoon but you could see even at 20 was actually a bloody good journalist.
