Some thoughts on yesterday

A few thoughts on yesterday:-

An excellent turnout, plenty of singing, but was it really sold out? There were quite a few empty seats that I could see.
The Swan and Rushes was a top selection for the pre-match pub with a fine selection of beers. IED was there though. (!)
Didn’t see any of the trouble that was mentioned, but there were plenty of police around before and after the game.
Apologies to Brandonio who I offended in the pub after the game.

And to the game
That result could have happened at Southampton, instead it happened at Leicester, who were not very good, just better at playing s**t football than us.
Croft was good again, tried hard, Ched had a couple of efforts off target first half, but that was about it in attack. If we had nicked one, which admittedly looked unlikely, we might have had something to hang on to, but we didn’t.
Our token premier league youth team loanee (TPLYTL) this week was James Henry who did a remarkable impression of last Tuesday’s TPLYTL, Kieran Gibbs. I felt sorry for him, to be honest, played out wide, and not in the game at all. Our best attacking threat Croft, was moved out to the left accommodate him in the second half. I predict that the TPLYTL role will revert to Gibbs against Barnsley.
Fozzy never really got into the game, Russell got frustrated, the crowd went quiet, and they got a second. Russell’s tackle didn’t look very good from my vantage position 100 yards away and staring into the sun. Glad the other player appears to be ok – could see the FA clamping down on someone, other than a Prem club, if it had been a bad injury.
Leicester played exactly the way I would expect a club scrapping for survival. Scrappy, niggling, foot in appealing for everything, Steve Howard typified this, where in the first half I appealed three times for a foul by him in fifteen seconds.

And finally
The important thing will how we recover from this. It was inevitable we would lose sometime.
