Would HAVE said

You think it's "would of" only because the usual spoken abbreviation for "would have" is "would've". Of course this is actually short for "would have", but it sounds just like "would of".

An easy mistake to make but now you know the origin of it I'm sure you'll find it easy to remember in future!
