I don't buy it.

I remember being at Elland Road (93ish I think) when I watched him remonstrate with the ref trying to get Culverhouse sent off for a non-existent foul.

Also, someone I know saw him at Alton Towers yonks ago and apparently he was an obnoxious c**t.
