tho no coal tits, thrushes or wrens, I do get a long tailed tit now and again. Both wood pigeons and collared doves daily and the occasional rock dove (rat with wings).
My star spot was a hen pheasant a couple of years ago. Wandered around my garden for a couple of hours before disappearing. I'm nowhere near any pheasant habitat, so I suspect it had escaped.
Until a couple of weeks ago my feeders were very queit but there is a good trade building up now and I'm hopeful of robins nesting, using a nest box I can see from my (homeworker's) desk. I'm coming over all Bill Oddie.
The article doesn't surprise me. Bird food costs a small fortune. I buy mine in bulk at an independant garden centre and can easily spend as much in a trip as on a week's groceries.
