most of the time he's been playing in the last couple of seasons we've looked a crap team. There are too many things he can't (or can't be bothered to) do, such as anything defensive or getting in the middle where you might score a goal when supposedly playing as a striker.
Ultimately it's a team game. Hucks has a style that makes him look good when viewed in isolation but contribute to us as a team looking bad. He would have been international class 30 years ago but the game is much tougher now, and players who don't work hard when the other team has the ball are (sadly) a luxury. To compensate for what Hucks doesn't do he has to be on absolutely stunning form. He certainly WAS that in 2003/4 but rarely has been since, and we duly haven't won very often.
Much as I wish I could, I can't see any way he will get back to anything like that 2003/4 form.
He has (not necessarily through any fault of his own, some over-worshipful fans bear most of the blame) become bigger than the team, and (rather like Arsenal since Henry left) we have looked much better overall since we moved to what looks inevitably like the start of a post-Hucks world.
