Hucks has been part of the problem

Yes he is still one of the players who (on his day) can turn an otherwise lifeless game but that's exactly what he hasn't been achieving as much as he used to. He may have been the player of the month for December but he was responsible for some pretty atrocious performances before that. But then he wasn't alone on that score.

We are getting the results we so desperately needed when he was in the side without relying on him as we so often had to in the past. If we got a result alst season or up to Christmas this compaign it was most likleey down to him, now that's no longer the case.

He doesn't offer us anything defensively and I have always thought we look a more secure unit without him.

That said, I don't want to see him go because he has been magnificent for us. If fit then he can be one of the best players in this league and our relative shortage of goals does still worry me. Having him on the bench even if not in the side gives us "options".

But if he no longer has the pace or the desire then I don't see the need to invest money that could be more wisely spent on another contract extension.
