Actually I wouldn't be surprised if we learned he really is an angry man

A thoroughly angry one, if you follow. I have nothing whatsoever to base that on other than a feeling borne from comparing his 'second seasons' to his firsts. Again, there may be plenty of reasons for that - like I said, it's only a feeling.
