Thing is, it depends on your defintion of 'team', doesn't it?

It was certainly the worst 'team' - i.e. collective performance of individuals that I have ever seen.

However, the players individually weren't as bad - as we have ascertained 50% good signings, 50% bad signings.

I hink he was wrong to spout so publicly - but as people have alluded to on here, he might just have been the catalyst for better times.
