Norwich are hoping to sign 2/3 names prior to the window shutting; and maybe one after the window is closed.
Norwich have already rejected a bid for Scunthorpe's Martin Paterson of £850 k. A further bid is possible.
The young Arsenal player Norwich have a first option on is rumoured to be either Kieran Gibbs or Mark Randall. This one could, however, be left until after the window closes – specifically when Arsenal's African Cup of Nations players return.
Norwich are then awaiting fresh news regarding Martin Taylor. The Birmingham defender is being kept at Birmingham until a replacement is secured, and even then a deal is far from secured with Norwich refusing to up the price from the £750 k offered. Birmingham want a reported £1 million with an option of a further £300 k should Taylor start 10 games.
Finally, Roeder is monitoring the situation at Newcastle as he is hopeful of landing Shola Ameobi. Ameobi is a player Roeder greatly admires, and Ameobi is supposedly keen to link up with Roeder once more. Unfortunately, Norwich can only afford to take the forward on loan, while Newcastle want to off load for £1.25 million.
