Francis on Strike

DAMIEN FRANCIS has gone on strike in an attempt to force Norwich to sell him to Portsmouth.

Midfielder Francis ? valued at ?2million by the Canaries ? refused to play in last night?s friendly at Colchester.

Portsmouth boss Alain Perrin has already had two offers rejected for Francis, 26, but is poised to come back with an increased bid of ?1.6m.

Tony Finnegan, Francis? agent, said: ?Norwich are mulling things over.?

Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric admitted: ?Signing another attacking midfielder is a strong possibility. We hope to do something very soon.?

Francis, who has scored 14 goals in 78 games for Norwich, would become Pompey?s third signing in a week after the arrival of ex-Liverpool keeper Sander Westerveld and Benfica striker Azar Karadas.
