Didn't realise that to be honest, thought they could televise more if they wanted to - suppose it makes sense though as the monies to be divvied up would have to be arranged pre-competition.
Interesting piece about the FA Cup in this month's When Saturday Comes actually, one of the suggestions is to change the prize money. Currently winning the third round is £40,000 and the overall winner is £2.4m - they suggest splitting the cash to the sixteen qualifiers for the fifth round, £370,000 each instead of the current £100,000, plus a good prospect of equal amount from telly.
Premiership and Championship clubs may be keener to progress two rounds then, thereafter the 'scent of Wembley' takes over. May help restore a bit of magic to the cup if teams start to play full strength sides (Reading, Blackburn etc.).
