Roeder has released four people rather than hold on to them thus reducing the size of the squad. This reduced size squad is too small to work with. Therefore he has put pressure on himself to bring people in, as opposed to having a larger squad with some players he didn't want.

This is also applying pressure to the board to release money to buy players as he has made the squad too small
