Causes for Concern

I am in a mini prediction league with a colleague at work. We go through the season predicting Norwich scores. You get 2 points for guessing the right score and 1 point for guessing the correct result. I won it narrowly last season courtesy of a suberb run of cirrectly guesssing four in a row. On such things do a season rest.

This season I am taking a severe hammering and my mate has pretty much disappeared over the horizon. I am the prediction league equivalent of Derby County. Today however I am quietly confident of picking up at least a correct result. I have predicted a 1-0 defeat courtesy of the fact that Barnsley have lost only one match at home all season and I can't see us drawing again, especially away from home. So far it is looking good.

The events of the last week have given me cause for concern however. Roeder has been clearing the decks which I have no problem with assuming of course we bring in the replacements required. We have been playing better football since mid November but a lack of quality has kept us too close to the drop zone for comfort.

The lliev affair is somehow typical of Norwich. The rules are clear but it appears nobody thought to check on these before offering the Bulgarian our hospitality for a week. I will rest a lot easier once Roeder starts to bring in players. The squad needs at least four new players by 1 Feb.

I have just heard we have equalised so I will get my coat.
