lets not get carried away. Getting £400K for Brown was a masterstroke. Most of us would have settled for a nominal fee just to get him off the wage bill. To be fair to the player, he was a hard worker but never looked like a natural goalscorer. He found himself doing too much work outside the box which meant he rarely turned up in the danger area. I would wish him well but as PNE are at the same end of the table as us I will hold fire on that.
Getting Evans back is also welcome. He went off the boil a bit towards the end of his stay but showed enough to suggest that with the right strike partner he could be a regular goal scorer at this level.
Taking stock, it is clear that Roeder still has a lot of work to do in this window. We have lost Lewis and Brown and have only the signing of Pattison to show as a permanent signing. PNE have strengthened as have QPR. Leicester and Cov also have money to spend. I will rest much easier when we have a few more signings through the door.
