Disgruntled fans can be ignored, though - disgruntled players and (especially) chairmen

are a whole different ball game.

Personally I think they should probably have given Allardyce longer, but if he'd lost the dressing room and Ashley didn't have the confidence to give him any money for transfers, then his position was probably as untenable as Peter Grant's ended up being with us.

If any other individual or entity has been Sam's downfall, I reckon it's Joey Barton - Allardyce took a gamble on being able to reform him and failed in spectacular embarrassing public fashion.
