Its catch 22. He could develop into a good player, but he won't unless he plays. So to fulfill his potential he needs first team games, and this is not going to happen here.
We could loan him, but then I'm not a fan of farming a kid out all the time. No stability in terms of his future, no continuity in terms of his coaching, disruption to his day to day life.
This deal tells Joe he's at posh for hte next 3.5 years, he can move, settle, and get used to seeing most of the same faces for hte next three years, stop worrying about his future and concentrate on his game.
