Police want clubs to pay for policing outside grounds

or for clubs to take more responsibility. Again this is a case of society having different expectations for football fans compared to other citizens. Do they expect this from other sporting clubs? Should pubs now be expectd to pay for the anti social behaviour of their customers?

The chief c**tstable states a yearly rise of serious football incidents on public transport from 56 to 83, as a reason for this. Let's compare this to the fact that just under 30 million fans saw matches last season (not including non league). That is a percentage of 0.0000028, 86 people out of 30 million. I'm actually surprised the percentage is that low, but you won't see any media pointing this out, it is much simpler to stick to the 'all football fans are potential hooligans' stereotype. (And of course the police and their over the top aggresive nature towards fans is just a figment of our imagination)
