Binge drinking is often misunderstood. Someone said about the massive difference between someone having 10, 20 or 30 units a week. That's not entirely true.
The recommended limit for a male is about 23 units a week. If you were to have, say, 3 units a day (about a pint) 7 days a week then you would be extremely safe.
However, if you drank 15 units one evening and then nothing the rest of the week, it is binge drinking and far more dangerous than 21 units a week, regardless of the fact that on a weekly basis you are drinking less.
Apparently most of the damage is done by pushing the liver (and kidneys, etc) to their limits - so drinking a lot in a short amount of time.
