oh no, i think you may have misunderstood me.

my 6 years in the East End was the time I felt most unthreatened in my life. The only 'daft' violence that I saw was between drunken 'white' yobs. I have made a lot of 'Muslim' friends there, and they mostly have the most impeccable manners (for a londoner anyway).

But, there is a 'War on Terror' being fought, for both hearts and minds. And there WAS bombs going off at both ends of my street, Hackney Rd and Aldgate. It really is enough to put you off your corn flakes.

I guess its this crusading war being fought that I left behind, and not lubberly old England.

Its a crying shame if you ask me.

I fear for Pakistan now, its now a timebomb there I think.
