It's funny how those players are trying a lot harder now though, isn't it?

Grant couldn't manage his players, which made him a failure at a pretty fundamental level.

And before anyone starts going "They get paid loads, they should play well for Grant even if they don't like him", it's not about money, it's about an emotional response to someone - if someone repeatedly slags you off without good reason (especially in public!) you're not going to like them and you're not going to perform for them. It's as simple as that.
