Re: the contradiction you mentioned below, I don't think it is one, actually. One of the graphs you linked to merely looked at whether we profited when selling a player depending on how they were valued (presumably in the most recent accounts). The other link, covering net profit and loss on ALL transfers in and out was much more significant though. So in 2005, we made a loss of £5.5m, and only 200K came in thanks to sales - but of this 200K, 190K was apparently a profit on how these players had been valued. And in 2006, of the £10.1m that came in through sales, £6.15m of it represented a profit compared to their most recent valuations.
To be honest, I don't think the "profit according to valuation" stat is particularly important or useful: though a consistent loss would indicate something seriously wrong at any club.
