FAO The better class of Wrather

Last week in an attempt to broaden one's tea-drinking horizons, I thought I'd give Lapsang souchong a whirl... To cut a long story short it is tea that tastes and smells like fence-paneling from Humbase.

Now being the lower class scum (No PK don't even bother) that I am maybe I am unaware of some special ritual that makes this tea bearable, Is there a spethial way to make it?

I have since had to put said tea in a metal tin and bury it at the bottom of the garden to avoid the rest of the house smelling like a garden shed.
