Big one. 7 on Richter Scale of Gisborne

In 1930 a huge quake hit that region and killed 250 people.

Aparently a little damage, but most of the buildings there are designed to withstand earthquakes.

Felt over most of the region, I didn't feel it in the North Shore but some friends in Auckland did.

We had another 7 on the richter scale quake hit the Fjordland a few months back but that area is totally unpopulated. On top of this Mount Ruapehu erupted on the day my son was born! (conincidence I think not!!) destroying half of my favourite ski run!
