It's a tricky one

I am taking a wild guess, but I would think that maybe we have tried to use some of the loan fee we paid for Taylor (Eye-watering, if Mick Dennis is to be believed) as a downpayment on the fee for a permanent move - a reasonably common practice, I understand. It looks like Brum blew that off and insisted on £1.25m cash, which is rumoured to be the fee QPR offered.

Taylor supposedly dismissed going to QPR out of hand and wants to come here.
