well if QPR have had a bid of £1m accepted by Brum

and we weren't able to afford that much I would suggest that the Board are reluctant to put any of their own money into the pot. Not an unreasonable assumption is it? By the way I think he'd be very good value at £1m when you compare him to the crap we've purchased in the past. In addition £1m would be cheap to keep us in this division. May be a few tunes changing if we don't have a very succesful few games over Xmas. Personally I am bitterely disappointed.
