OG, here's how I did it...

I heard the word DivX. No idea what it meant. Went to a website which had DivX movies, apparently. So, I downloaded one and saw it ended in "DivX". Nothing would play it which I had on my computer at the time.

So I GOOGLED "DivX player" and found programs to download and install, and they played my DivX movies. Then, I thought it would be brilliant if I could watch it on my telly without having to lug the laptop downstairs, so I GOOGLED "DivX DVD Converter free download" and found a free program to convert DivX to DVD format. I installed the program, FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS, put a blank DVD in my computer when asked to, and like magic it spent two hours making noises and at the end I had the movie on DVD.

In other words, GIYLF. That's how everyone else works it out!
