I did that in 2002

Four months later they made all the higher earners redundant, with massive wedge. I've never managed to get back to the same salary (agreed in the dotcom boom of the late 90's).

My wife always tells me it was the most stupid career decision I ever made, but as you say sometimes it is about more than cash. Mind you, I did kick myself when I heard about the redundancies!
