We had the players available - could have played Thorne up front, with Hucks and Leon either side, and then Hughes, Jarrett and Francis in the middle.

So makes you wonder if he's still thinking of two strikers and two wide players. And the pursuit of Marney backs that up too (altho from what I hear, at least he can tackle - to the point that Jol wants him to end up as a full back.)
