mmm. The problem with those x-ray machines.

First off theyre not x ray machines. the ones that are sensitive enough to pick up explosive material use microwaves. Secondly with current technology it takes 12 seconds to perform a scan.

Metal detectors are quicker but they detect all metal and thus everyone has to take their metal stuff off.

I'm afraid that whether they think it is impractical or not the facts are that at the moment it is.

interstingly the rest of the article does speak of new developments as over the last few years governments have been throwing money at possible bomb detectors and according to this article we are about 2 years away from a handheld device wich can trace 1 billionth of a gram of explosive material almost instantly. Which is good
