by someone who was allowed to do it because when someone suspected it they weren't allowed to stop him because it would offend him.

I'm quite liberal myself but think a line needs to be drawn. The police are welcome to interogate or search me whenever they like as long as they are only looking for bombs or actual dangerous stuff.

I think people's problem with this sort of invasion of personal privacy is the fact that there are so many other stupid laws like drug laws that these powers could be used to enforce.
