CU = Commercial Union
GA = General Accident
NU = Norwich Union

CU merged with GA to become CGU

NU merged with CGU to become CGNU

CGNU renamed itself Aviva but kept the Norwich
Union brand name in the UK while using Aviva for the rest of Europe.
