Who says Jewell was first choice?

There could be 100s of reasons why it took this long. Perhaps they were after Bruce, perhaps they were after Martin Allen who would have said yes but for X, Y and Z and Z couldn't be arranged. Who knows? Let's forget it now, it's gone, we need to concentrate on the future.
