The crowd don't get paid to perform, the players do

'The Crowd' did back the team when Grant was manager, for at least the first half of most matches. But with everyone, the team, management and supporters, loosing confidence, positive emotions go and are replaced by nerves and trepidation.

It's like the way a chant dies down when an opposition team attacks, everyone holds their breath for a second through fear.

We are now constantly under attack and as a crowd, we seem to have a collective fear that is lasting match after match and not just for a few brief seconds.

The one thing that will spark the crowd is if we stay in the position we are and flirt with relegation (eg the premiership season with matches, and hopefully comebacks, like the one against Middleborough)
