I agree - which IMO is ridiculous

The key point here is if our financial position remains this serious, ie. if Delia doesn't sell or even if the Turners have no intention of pumping money in for signings, then Sturrock becomes a very good choice. In a nutshell, Grant simply wasn't making the best of a bad job - but Sturrock surely would.

His record is excellent: brilliant at St Johnstone and Plymouth, never given a chance at Southampton (Lowe only ever wanted him as a stop gap - and his record wasn't even that bad when they got rid of him absurdly prematurely), and somehow turned around the marooned oil tanker that was Sheff Wed too.

To have done better there, he'd have had to have had at least SOME money to spend - but the common thread running right throughout his career is he never has. Everything he's achieved has been with next to nothing - and at Swindon, he not only stopped a good decade or so of decline, but despite total and utter off-field chaos there for months and months now, amazingly has them 5th in League One. Moreover, both Plymouth and Swindon are the same kind of family clubs that we are: I think he'd see us as ideal, and lack of resources wouldn't faze him one bit.
