He might well be the best 'keeper in the Championship, and has saved us from several stuffings already this season. Also, I'm sure he at least TRIED to find a CB or creative midfielder - but for whatever reason (unwilling to pay the wage demands, players unwilling to come anyway), it didn't happen. And on Shackell: I take your point, but who should he have made captain instead?
Other big errors, by the way: calling the fans a 'disgrace', taking Crofty off for trying a backheel with us 4-0 up at Tamworth (I mean, FFS!), slagging Huckerby off continually, slagging off Cureton after the Barnet game (FFS, again) and woefully mistreating both Croft and Martin this season.
And his single biggest error: failing to understand that the best managers always think before opening their mouths, and above all, use what they say to PROTECT their players, not criticise them further. PG's failure to grasp this and learn to control himself cost him the dressing room, and has led to the inevitable.
