If anything, I thought the fact that we invariably ended up lower mid-table even after s**te seasons in the late 90s/early noughties showed we'd never go down, no matter how crap the team or manager was. But only when the Blarneymeister was in charge was I as worried as I am now - and even then, I always assumed we'd move away from danger once he'd gone. I'm not at all as confident of that now.
