problems/positives

I think we're alll agreed things are a mess.

One of the biggest probs as I see it is where to play Hucks. This has been one of the biggest probs since the end of our promotion season (most of which as people seem to forget he played as a traditional striker).

For me he simply has to play up front with a proper midfield behind who know where they are supposed to be playing.

Secondly, Lappin. Partly compounded by problem 1 Grant is determined to find a space for Lappin in the team possibly as his deadballs seem to be the only time we're likely to score. He is NOT a central midfielder. Either play him left midfield or left back or not at all.

Right Wing. Grant deosn't trust Croft to play right wing with Huckerby left wing so we're ending up with no width and usually a central midfielder out of poistion. Croft or Chadwick should play here. Huckerby on the left is the problem.

Centre-back by all accounts Murray looked good and gives us another option. Spillane seems to be promising. Doherty is not as bad as hes made out but him and Shackell should not be an automatic pairing (to say the least).

I genuinely believe we have a much better squad than this time last year. It concerns me though that we seem to be unbelievably unlucky with injuries. Brellier is already out of the 16. ditto Chadwick. Brown is continually played when hes so obviously totally lacking confidence.

Grant has got the transfers right in my view but his continually playing people out of position is reminiscant of Worthington at his worst. I'm also concerned that he can't put 2+2 together re Hucks up front. Last year Hucks on wing = bad, up front = good. Its not rocket science. Yes he personally looks best on the left but then the teams rubbish.

Am also concerned that the crowd is now starting to make it more likely we will win away than at home (and given our record thats not good !!)/
