actually it's more to do with the length that they've dragged the whole thing out for

thereby failing to build up any interest with the 'floating sports viewer' (as it were)

that's part of the good thing about the proper World Cup, at least 1 match a day (at least until the semis) usually more, always something happening to keep the casual viewer interested
