Don't even need that...

I used to live there, and speak German all the time.

Trouble is, I did it with an English accent for the first 6 months - and every conversation, no matter how hard i tried, after uttering two sentences in what what perfectly good grammatical German, they would ALWAYS reply in English.

Now, not being someone who takes defeat easily, I would persevere in German, and they, of equal character trait, would carry on in English.

So, almost daily, I would be in the absurd position of speaking German to the German, and they English to the Englaender.
